Sewing, an unknown author says, is a creative mess which is better than tidy idleness...
If you master the art of the sewing machine, you can fill your days, not to mention the living room, bedroom, and closets!!
I picked up stitching early out of pure interest, but when I learnt the art of log-cabin quilting, which is widely used in Europe, it helped open up a treasure house of ideas. I tried the technique on bags, purses, cushions, curtains, bedspreads, table runners and what not.. You can let your imagination run wild with the myriad combination of colors, fabrics and designs. Here are some of my early experiments..
Green large tote with lace in center with machine embroidery stitches on either side |
Log-cabin technique on a small toiletry bag |
Simple tote with paisley motif fabric and green handles and a green bordered-pocket on one side |
Large tote made of Satin fabric highlighting the printed design on either side, and an outer pocket on one side |
I'm itching to be stitching!!!
